The Firm was originally founded in 1987 by James M. Harris, Jr. and another partner, both of whom had substantial experience practicing law at prominent local law firms. The Firm grew over the years, adding well-known and prestigious clients and adding additional attorneys to properly serve the needs of the Firm’s clients. The Firm was pleased to welcome experienced trial lawyer, Thomas W. Duesler, as a partner in 1998. Mr. Duesler was formerly a partner at another civil trial firm who had substantial trial experience and additional prestigious clients. Partner, Richard W. Hatfield, began at the Firm as an associate and worked his way to partner. He is an accomplished trial lawyer with many successful trials to his credit. Mr. Hatfield has been a partner since 2003. In 2009, the Firm had a unique opportunity to add experienced trial attorney, John S. Morgan, as Of Counsel to the Firm. Mr. Morgan brought numerous additional clients to the Firm and has helped broaden the Firm’s practice base.

The Firm specializes in civil litigation, including but not limited to defense of personal injury, premises liability, products liability, toxic tort, construction defect, admiralty and maritime, and security cases, as well as insurance coverage litigation. The Firm also handles select personal injury cases, employment discrimination cases, and commercial litigation. The Firm practices virtually all aspects of civil litigation representing clients in civil trial and appellate matters in state and federal courts.

The attorneys at HARRIS, DUESLER & HATFIELD, L.L.P. are licensed to practice in numerous courts including all state and federal courts in the state of Texas, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, The United States Supreme Court and courts in the State of Louisiana.*
